Santa Barbara Mobile Notary FAQs:
How do I pay?
We accept cash, check, major credit cards, or Venmo for payment at the time services are provided. We can invoice law firms and similar companies by prior agreement through Square as well.
What identification do I need?
By California State Law, we can accept government-issued photo IDs that are not expired. This generally would mean a current driver’s license, ID, or passport. Military IDs and foreign passports are acceptable as well.
What is your service area?
We typically conduct notarizations from Hollister Ranch through Goleta, Santa Barbara, Montecito, Summerland, and Carpinteria.
Can You Notarize an I-9 Form?
The California Secretary of State has made it clear that a notary public may not notarize, complete, or make the certification on Form I-9, even in a non-notarial capacity. Only a bonded immigration consultant can perform an I-9 verification in California which is a separate certification process.
Does your notary fee include travel?
Our notary fees do include a travel fee and this fee is waived if there are a number of notarizations scheduled for the appointment. Because our fees are based on the document notarized, travel, and the number of notarizations, it is best to call or text us for our best pricing at 805-335-8260.
Do you provide printing and delivery services?
We do! Simply work that out with us when we schedule an appointment. We’ll need a PDF file for printing and if you’d like us to drop a document off at FedEx or UPS, simply email us a label. Once we drop off your package, we’ll also send you a receipt with a tracking number.
Do you conduct online notarizations during COVID?
Online notarizations are not legal in California. If you are concerned about making an appointment during the pandemic, please know that we are highly experienced in conducting notarizations in the safest manner possible. Feel free to bring it up when you talk to us if you have specific concerns that we can address.
Are you conducting notarizations at Cottage Hospital?
We are able to conduct notarizations at Cottage Hospital. It is best to work with a social worker or the head nurse of where the signer is staying to help facilitate a visit during the pandemic. When you call to schedule our visit, we can help you work out the details. It will be important to make sure the patient actually has their unexpired driver’s license or passport with them at the hospital before we make an appointment.
What if I don’t have a current driver’s license?
We have a video and blog post that explains what you can do to still get a notarization completed.
